Enjoy Your 4th of July Weekend & “Independence Day”

As soon as I think about the 4th of July my mouth begins to water. I think of my fathers tender, slow cooked, finger-licking beef ribs and brisket he slaved all night cooking outside. I think of family surrounding the smoked pit, strawberry soda pop and laughter. I think about the enjoyment of watching my children, nieces and young cousins running under the moonlight popping colorful fireworks. What “Freedom,” we have I think to myself.

It took guts and bravery to go up against Great Britain, but our forefathers did it. On July 4, 1776, it became official America was an independent country. It has been a bitter struggle for many Americans still since that day, but when I celebrate, I celebrate the sweet victory and the courageousness of our forefathers who paved the way for the better country we live in today!

Enjoy your day off my friends, and remember what Independence means: “To take care of yourself, make your own rules, and providing for your own needs.”

Be Safe,
